Herringswell - On the development front
_______________________________________________
-
In January 2005 the residents of Herringswell and surrounding villages discovered plans had been discussed by Forest Heath District council to build a new town by the name of '
Watermark' on Kentford Heath.
-
The Five Villages Preservation Trust was formed to fight this development and successfully stopped this ridiculous proposal. For further information you can visit their website: 5vpt.org.uk
-
Whilst they were fighting this proposal and preparing the case to put to the Inspectors assessing the Regional Spatial Strategy another proposal was sneaked in - i.e. a proposal for 10,000 houses in Red Lodge.
-
This would have made it a new town twice the size of Cambourne in Cambridge, causing more havoc on our roads.
-
Forest Heath's requirement to build 6,400 houses to the year 2021 has been agreed by the Inspectors
-
BE AWARE the land owner/developer at Red Lodge will not go away and has every intention of trying to get building on greenfields.
-
This new town will reach to the borders of Worlington, swamp Red Lodge, and back onto the Herringswell Manor conversion.
-
Imagine the conjestion and traffic on our rural roads - it doesn't bear thinking about!
-
People live here in West Suffolk because of the rural nature and the way of life - LETS NOT ALLOW DEVELOPERS TO DESTROY THIS. - This new town is not necessary.
-
The current development at King's Warren of 1250-1500 is quite sufficient. Even those are being advertised as an easy commute to Cambridge and London and more recently they have been advertised as buy to let, particularly for the US Air Force Personnel - SO MUCH FOR NEEDING HOMES FOR LOCAL PEOPLE AND KEY WORKERS!
-
Crest Nicholson held a public exhibition of the 2007 Kings Warren Master plan in June 2007. They included in those plans an additional 750 dwellings over and above the 1250. I suppose they hoped no one would notice the sneaky way they had added them in.
-
Following the Local Development Framework discussions, FHDC have already agreed that they will allocate the extra 1,000 dwellings they had hoped to build in Red Lodge between the 3 market towns and Lakenheath.
- The proposed truck stop at Red Lodge was actually indicated on the aspirational plans submitted to the EiP. As truck stops are not very profitable, it is obvious that this is the first step to achieving the 10,000 dwelling development at Red Lodge. Let's not give the developer a chance to do this!
