RED LODGE 700 ADDITIONAL DWELLINGS

  • An appeal has been lodged by Crest Nicholson against the refusal by Forest Heath District Council for these additional dwellings.
  • The school has still not been built, there are no shops and the lack of infrastructure are the main reasons for refusal.
  • As soon as further details are known they will be posted on this website. The appeal date is expected to be towards the end of 2008.

TRUCK STOP AT RED LODGE

  • A planning application has been submitted for a truck stop just of the A11 northbound. This is a most unsuitable location as it should be on the Newmarket bi-pass at the BP Service stations, thereby serving both the A11 and A14, the A14 having the majority of the traffic, incorporate a truck stop on the A11 from Barton Mills to Thetford during the dualling, which is expected to begin in 2010 or, as there is an A11/A14 interchange study due to take place in 2011/2012, incorporate it at that junction.
  • The site suggested could cause HGV traffic on our rural roads to increase as they make their way to use the facilities. Already HGV's are illegally using the weak bridge on the Herringswell Road at Kentford. This is now being monitored by Suffolkk County Council.
  • The current site of the Red Lodge cafe could be retained (in fact there is no guarantee that they will close.
